Stave off high blood sugar and other Alzheimer's risk factors with a daily dose of vinegar. According to researchers, there is evidence that vinegar sinks risk factors that may lead to memory decline and dementia -- namely, high blood sugar, insulin resistance, diabetes and prediabetes, and weight gain. While vinegar does not confront Alzheimer's directly, studies at Arizona State University have found that vinegar can curb appetite and food intake, helping prevent weight gain and obesity. Swedish investigators agree. In one study, downing two or three tablespoons of vinegar with white bread cut expected rises in insulin and blood sugar by about 25 percent. Pour on the vinegar -- add it to salad dressings, eat it by the spoonful, even mix it into a glass of drinking water. Any type of vinegar works because it's the acidity that counts.

How To Make Your Own Clay Masks

It’s no secret that clay mask treatments can draw impurities and excess oils from the skin and bring it to a healthy glow, women have used them for centuries with great success.
Did you know you can skip the expensive commercial products and mix your own? It’s very easy to do and the best part is, homemade masks can be made with natural ingredients that are tailer-made to suit your needs perfectly (and boy oh boy, it’s so cheap to make too!).
You can mix them in bulk batches or single use (recommended until you find a formula that works just as you want).
For a basic mask, all you need is a natural clay powder and a bit of distilled water. The fun starts when you add powdered milk, essential oils, even cocoa! Here’s a bit of info and a few recipes to get you started, have fun!
Types of clay you can try: Each has its own unique mineral properties and benefits to offer, stick with the one that your skin responds best too. There are lots of different types you can use (you can even use more than a single type in a recipe), here are a few to get you started…
  • Fuller’s Earth
  • Kaolin
  • French Green Clay (good for both oily or dry, dull skin)
  • Bentonite
  • Rose Clay
Where to buy it: Check your local bulk health food store or online (I just checked Amazon and a pound of French Green Clay is just under $17…this will make a lot!).
Here are a few simple recipes to experiment with:
Basic: For every tablespoon of clay powder, add between 1 to 2 tablespoons of distilled water and mix until a smooth paste. Use this ratio for the dry mixes below.
Powdered Milk: Mix equal parts of clay and powdered milk, blend or grind well and store in a sealed glass jar.
Cocoa: Use the powdered milk recipe above but add half the amount of cocoa powder (say you mixed 1/4 cup each of clay and milk, use 1/8 cup cocoa). Cocoa is an antioxidant.
Oatmeal Mix: (suitable for oily skin or acne) Mix 2 parts clay to 1 part finely ground oatmeal.
Apple Cider Vinegar: (good pimple or acne remedy) Replace the water amount with the vinegar.
Rose Water: 1 TBS green clay, 1 1/2 TBS aloe vera gel, 3 drops essential oil. Mix all ingredients together then add organic rosewater 1 tsp at a time until the mixture is a smooth paste. Source.
Honey: Before adding water, mix in a spoonful or two of honey…add water until mixture has thinned enough to use.
Witch Hazel: (good for acne and helps improve complexion) Replaces the water, use just enough to make a smooth paste. May lighten the skin a bit.
Olive Oil: Can be used instead of water, this won’t dry so it’s good for those who have more sensitive skin.
Note: You can add a few drops of essential oil to your dry mix batches before storing, just make sure they’re well blended. For single use, one drop should do it.
Directions For Use:
  • First remove makeup and wash skin thoroughly.
  • Apply mask evenly over your face and neck, avoiding eyes.
  • Leave on for approximately 15 to 20 minutes or until dry.
  • Remove with warm water then rinse with cool water.
  • Skin can be treated as needed but no more than once a week.
Note: If you have sensitive skin or trying a mask for the first time, test a small area first.
Bulk Storage:
  • For dry mixes only…store in a sterilized glass jar and seal tight. Keep in a cool, dark location.

Easy but a smelly trick to do, however it works great! Susan Lucci (All my children, Erica Kane) has been known to use this little home remedy. You'll see results the same day! If you do this daily or weekly, results will be more dramatic." Thanks for the super tip Esther!

Or try this great tip that Jessie from Phoenix, Az was kind enough to share with us; "Take 1 tsp. tomato juice, 1/2 tsp. lemon juice, a pinch of turmeric powder and a tsp. of flour. Using a clean makeup brush, brush your face with pure lemon juice. Let it stand for 5 minutes then rinse. Do this in the evening before bed since the citric acid may cause temporary redness. Lemon juice contains astringent and antiseptic properties that will get rid of the excess perspiration and unwanted shine from high humidity (that also causes oil glands to work over time!). Stop Green Hair on Blondes!!
Raven from Los Angeles, California sent in this great tip to keep your hair from turning green! "This is a great remedy for keeping your blond hair from turning green after swimming in a chloride pool! Just wash your hair with shampoo, then take a tomato and squeeze the juice out and apply to your hair. Then rinse well. You can also use V8 the tomato drink. The red tones and natural acids in the juice neutralize any greenness as well as leaving your hair soft and glossy." Blondes will love you for sharing this tip Raven. Thanks! Rhonda from Pickerington, Ohio writes; "As a hairdresser for over 20 years I found that to remove the green discoloration of blond hair from the clorine in swimming pools, just wash your hair and then apply a paste of baking soda and water to your hair. Leave on your hair for about ten minutes. Rinse, shampoo and condition as usual. The green should be gone. This works every time for me and nothing else in the professional market works better than this. The baking soda is a neutralizer agent." Thanks so much Rhonda!
FYI: Shirley Temple always had 56 curls in her hair.

I first put a warm wet face cloth on my face for a minute and then I massage on some olive oil. I then use a little sugar on my fingertips and gently massage over my face. Wrinkle Remover
Green Thompson seedless grapes! No kidding! It's one of the ingredients in those big time expensive wrinkle creams. All ya do is cut a grape in half and gently crush it on your face and neck. Make sure that you get the "crows-feet" and the lines around your mouth. Leave it on for twenty minutes or so and rinse with tepid water and pat dry. Repeat every day and before you know it... those nasty old lines will be hard to find!! While you are at it, drink at least 8 glasses of water daily. And... eat veggies rich in Vitamin A, such as carrots, celery and spinach. Also, get 8 hours of sleep every night. Here is a wrinkle tip that Stacey from BelleVernon, Pa. wanted to share; Soak cotton pads in orange juice and put them over the eyes for one half hour to get rid of wrinkles." Thanks Stacey! Lesley from NY writes; "My mother, 72 years young, has few wrinkles in spite of a 55 year cigarette addiction. She has never used anything but A& D ointment. She slathers it on her face and hands after washing. Then she uses a very warm damp facecloth to "melt" it. Her skin is soft, barely wrinkled and her hands look younger than mine. I didn't listen to her and spent a small fortune on "miracle" moisturizers. Remember, Mother knows best! " Thanks for the wonderful wrinkle tip Lesley!

Soak a cotton ball in warm salt water and hold it on the blemish for 3-4 minutes, the nasty white part will dissolve!" Thanks Jess! Rosie from Fairfax, VA writes; "I know this is gross but when I going through my adolescent time (of course I had a few acne) an elderly told me, when I go to bed at night, I should take a wash cloth, soak with urine and apply it to my face. I never followed her instructions however, a younger friend of mine, had a lot of blemishes while she was growing up and she had tried everything. Nothing worked. Then I remembered what that old lady had told me. I mentioned to her. She did it... of course she didn't mention it to me until her face cleared up!" Thanks Rosie! Sounds really yucky, but I'm sure that it works! Okay, I know that this isn't a natural remedy, but Proactiv really works, and... it won't break your budget.
